Gorki was created in 1992 by two great friends from Malaga, one born and bred in the city and the other an adoptive son, and began life as a delicatessen offering customers the chance to taste some of the store's produce.
It was those customers who clamoured for Gorki to become what it now is, a wine bar serving food which ranges from chorizo rolls and salmon sandwiches to caviar and plates of fine cured ham produced from acornfed pigs, along with a host of other snacks, salads and original creations.
Having revolutionised the city's tapas scene, Gorki is now one of the established culinary landmarks of Malaga, from where it has reached out to other parts of Andalusia, and more recently the rest of Spain. It now runs five establishments in the region, along with another in Madrid and two franchise operations: one in Marbella and the other in Pozuelo de Alarcón.
